Our History

Advanced Technology Products (ATP) is a privately owned company with its headquarters in Perth Western Australia. The original business was established in 1985 and over this time has developed extensive expertise in fire and gas detection, aspirated smoke detection, fire suppression and hazardous area wireless communication systems. The company is about delivering solutions.

ATP is an ISO 9001 accredited organisation with purpose-built facilities, tailored to meet all aspects of major project execution from design, engineering, fabrication, factory acceptance testing (FAT), to comprehensive staff and client training. 

Our evolution has taken our capabilities from today’s industry needs to meet the challenges of tomorrow. 

Our legacy is grounded in decades of expertise across diverse sectors. From Oil & Gas to Mining, Rail Systems, and major infrastructure projects, we’ve set the benchmark for excellence and innovation.  

Recent projects have seen us work with field production facilities, onshore LNG facilities, mining and resource recovery facilities, rail systems and major infrastructure including power generation facilities. 

As we look towards the future, our commitment remains the same: delivering bespoke solutions for our clients’ ever-evolving needs.

TIMELINE

  • 1985

    ATP Solutions founded (then known as IEI WA) and appointed Exclusive Distributor of VESDA Fire Detection Systems.

  • 1988

    Accredited VESDA testing and servicing facility established in WA.

  • 1991

    BHP accepts the use of Vesda as an ideal form of early warning smoke detection for its various Sub Stations and Field Auxiliary rooms at its Port Headland site, and the Woodside is provided first VESDA units.

  • 1994

    First VESDA units sold to Optus. Designed and supplied the first VESDA system for the Australian Navy's computer centre at the HMAS Stirling naval base.

  • 1997

    Alcoa adopts VESDA as its primary smoke detection system for all sites.

  • 2000

    Rio Tinto - Fire systems for Tom Price and Karratha WA including design and supply. Became exclusive WA distributor for Inertia and Notifier group of products.

  • 2001

    Department of Defence - VESDA systems for SAS including design, supply and commissioning. Woodside Energy- Onshore VESDA Detection Systems including audit, report and commissioning.

  • 2003

    ALCOA Complete fire systems upgrade to Karratha WA operations. BP Refinery - Complete fire systems upgrade to Kwinana WA operations.

  • 2005

    BHP Billiton - CCTV and Fire Systems integration at the Port Hedland facility.

  • 2007

    Gorgon LNG Project - 135 x Fire and Gas Detectors, 4 x Suppression Systems for the complete Camp, Operations and TCF including; Ex Telephone Systems, Junction Boxes, Control Interfaces. Project included engineering, design, assembly, documentation, FAT, SIT and SAT and Onyx Graphics packages. Won again in 2008.

  • 2013

    Woodside, Okha - Helideck suppression system - tanks, monitors, hoses and foam including design and documentation. Marandoo Mine Expansion - Fire System including engineering, procurement, supply, documentation, FAT and SAT.

  • 2014

    Ichthys RFID PLS Project - WLAN design and supply of RFID solutions including over 136 EX enclosures and Access Points, Temporary CCTV and siren system solution.

  • 2016

    First Quantum Minerals Cobre Panama Mining Project - ATP designed a VESDA Very Early Warning Smoke Detection solution across three core Cobre Panama sites, utilising the Notifier system as the fire detection system’s main hardware.

  • 2017

    John Petersen, the founding director of Advanced Technology Products, was one of three recipients to receive the DiNenno Prize, which was in recognition of their outstanding contributions to enhance fire and life safety through technical innovation and the development and commercialisation of the VESDA range of products.

  • 2018

    Woodside Karratha gas plant VESDA upgrade Phase 1 & 2 – ATP conducted a site-wide audit of the existing VESDA systems in Phase 1 & 2 and then executed the upgrade program. The upgrades made all of the VESDA systems compliant with KGP’s requirements and Australian standards. ATP also supervised the installation and hands-on commissioning of the VESDA systems, plus modifications to the pipework.

  • 2020

    ATP Innovations team develops PurgePoint to assist in maintaining the operation of Aspirated Smoke Detection (ASD) systems such as VESDA.
